Space Showoff

Space Showoff is a anarchic space-themed cabaret night celebrating the European Planetary Science Congress at UCL this September.

Join top space experts, comedians and performers from UCL and beyond for a night that’ll be funny, educational and stuffed to the brim with planets, moons, stars and other space-y goodness.

Confirmed acts include space comedian Helen Keen, satellite builder Maggie Aderin-Pocock, and planetary geologist Peter Grindrod, all MCed by UCL's Steve Cross. Space Showoff is part of the Science Showoff family.

All ticket money will be donated to the Lightyear Foundation, who take science to schoolchildren across the world who might otherwise not get a chance to take part.

Riproaring, high explosive, liquid oxygen fuelled start, petered out a little in the second half to a slow ion drive... could have done with some more of that anarchy. Good fun, but a couple of over long (not 9 mins!) acts, and a couple of meandering ones at the end.

Was really good! I preferred the hard science stuff personally, love letters to planets was amusing but there are better things I'd pay to watch. Awesome to see Maggie Aderin-Pocock in the flesh, really inspiring woman. I thought it a bit odd that the planetary geologist towards the end spent most of her time explaining the experience of being a Greek woman in science - we get it, it was hard and still is, but just get on with the science...?

I enjoyed all of them but struggled with the final one. The scientist with the glass and the egg. It was more suitable for 13 years olds really.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
