The Wellcome Collection's permanent exhibition presents a range of ideas about science and medicine since Henry Wellcome's death in 1936. It reflects the experiences and interests of scientists, doctors and patients.
Within the huge field of medicine this exhibition attempts to focus on only a few topics: the body, genomes, obesity and living with medical science. Each is explored through a range of exhibits from science and everyday life, as well as artistic responses to the issues presented in red 'art cubes'. Image is a sculpture of swine flu.
This is a relaxing Thursday evening out. You can wander in a group or by yourselves through the permanent exhibition and the current exhibition Foreign Bodies, which showcases a diverse body of work from artists who worked in medical research centres in Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam and the UK.
Or/and you can hang out with us in the ground floor cafe-bar and science bookshop for geeky chats and socialising. Cafe is open until 10pm, bookshop until 9pm. Please find a table with a Meetup sign. The host, Perihan, will email or post her number below a couple of days before the event.
