The Human Brain Project: Building the Brain from Big Data
Impromptu day time event from a member! Mike will meet you outside South Kensington Station at 12.30pm if you want to walk over together.
The Data Science Institute at Imperial College London is delighted to host Dr. Sean Hill, co-Director of the Blue Brain Project and co-Director of Neuroinformatics in the European Union funded Human Brain Project (HBP). Dr. Hill has extensive experience in building and simulating large-scale models of brain circuitry and has also supervised and led research efforts exploring the principles underlying the structure and dynamics of neocortical and thalamocortical microcircuitry.
In his talk, Dr. Hill will speak about how Big Data is being used for simulating the complete human brain on supercomputers.
Free and open to all. No booking is required, however seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
We shall meet up outside the tube station at 12:30ish to make it to the lecture hall for 12:45 and hopefully grab a seat.
Lecture is one hour, from 1-2pm.
