GeekUp & GeekZone are partnering to bring you Geekathon - two entire days of geekery! Get your tickets now!

Get ready for the best  two whole days a geek can enjoy! Geekathon is a fantasy come true!

The Geekathon is set for Saturday, September 27th and Sunday September 28th, and you won’t want to miss one movie screening, gaming opportunity, or meal. What can you look forward to at the ultimate two –day geek fest?

Whether you love sci-fi, fantasy, anime or all three, you are sure to love the films we have in store for the Geekathon.

If you are more of a gamer, we have you covered with both console and LAN gaming experiences for those who want a technology based gaming experience. Have no fear if you are old school. There will be board games as well.

Are music and dancing your thing? Check out the Silent Geekrave, and get ready for some great radio DJing too.

What geek doesn’t love to blow off a little steam once in a while? You can get some exercise doing rock climbing. Plus, for a small fee, we will also be featuring rifle shooting and archery.

This event is going on at the Rough Close Retreat. It can get a little chilly late in September so be sure to wear warm clothing, especially if you intend to spend the whole weekend. Don’t forget something to sleep on, your toiletries, and anything that you want to take with you to enhance the experience. Consoles, PCs, DVDs, Games, and any other geek tech you want to bring is welcome.

got a pleasant surprise this morning argos have 3 for 2 on toys so I got 3 £4.99 nerf jolt guns for £9.98 AND they gave me 3 packs of 12 darts FREE. I was not expecting free darts as the catalogue says you need so spend £25 on a nerf gun to get 12 free darts so nice bonus. Later I get to go to tesco to collect my nerf order: 1x Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage, 1x Nerf Elite Bandolier Kit AND 3x Nerf Nstrike Elite 18 Dart Clip. it might take me longer to reload 103 darts in to clips than to fire them :-D

Hi guys, I'm new to this group and I am considering coming to this, obviously would be on my own and would be looking to hang out. Have any of you gone before or is this a first time thing? Thanks

So do I just bring some sleeping stuff and clothes and a little bit of cash after buying a ticket. Do you guys have a place you meet up at the event? I'm currently in Arizona but will be back on Thursday so will probably buy my ticket then. I'll also be driving from Dudley if anyone would like a lift? I presume there will be parking?

      September 10, 2014

    • James G.

Yes bring sleeping stuff, get your ticket online for a discount. The event is held in the McLean Centre which will be clearly signposted. Loads of parking is available!

If I had help with transport I could bring along my 40 inch TV no problem. interested in both Archery and Rifle shooting if we get a full 12 then it only works out at £2.33 and £2.50 each for an hour assuming that we don't have a "Qualified Instructor" in our group and have to pay to use the sites instructor

    • James G.

We can certainly help you with transportation.

Prices & tickets for the Archery & Shooting will be available on the day

The best 48 hours a geek can enjoy! There must be some manipulation of the space time continuum going on to get 48 hours in to a 36 hour slot. And you have some tough competition, last month I spent 78 hours (from the start of the first to the end of the last event) enjoying sessions at nineworlds, 18.5 hours in a row was the most I could do as the film track that said they would keep going until the last person fell gave up at 3:30 in the morning with 2 people still watching, And strangely there was nothing else going on at that time in the morning :-D

Let’s see if I can handle 36 hours straight!
after all there was mention of a prize.

Perhaps we've used a little creative license on the time here, however there is a lot to do and it will be a fantastic weekend!

Firstly when does it end? will I be sleeping there 2 nights?

Between geekup meetup, geekzone Coventry meetup and there are 2 different starts and 3 different ends. Starts 27th: 10AM, 11AM and 10AM. Ends 10PM 28th, 4PM 28th and 10PM 16th OCTOBER

Second do I have to get a ticket in advance and pay a 90p fee on top of the £10 ticket or can I pay when I show up? Note geekzone Coventry meetup does not have link to for tickets but geekup meetup does.

A full HD cinema screen to plug my XBOX into would be nice but are there going to be any TV’s there as well? While my XBOX is easy to transport my 40 inch TV is not, if I just used local multiplayer games that would limit my options and one screen brings with it queues to use it!

The end time is 10pm on Sunday, 28 September 2014 apologies for the typo. You will spend one night at the event - prizes for anyone that makes it through without sleep!

Tickets will be available on the door for £12, so for a discount make sure you get your ticket now. GeekZone Coventry members can purchase tickets directly through meetup, avoiding the Eventbrite fee.

We will have projectors available, however if you are willing to bring your 40 inch TV that would be fantastic! We can help with transport if you need it.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
