I may not make it for the lunch part due to an appointment, and picking-up something that was on hold for me. Luckily, the latter of the two is near the area, so I can make it to the gaming by walking, lol.

Hey Geekalicious, I help A&C Games run the regular monthly Mario Kart 64 tournaments and I was wondering if you guys have posted the rules and how the tournament will be run online somewhere, or if it's up for discussion? I'm particularly wondering how brackets will be set up, allowed/disallowed shortcuts, and what to in the event of a character dispute. In particular I'm concerned that the courses won't be diverse enough for each bracket. We have discovered in our own tournaments it is not a good idea to run each bracket for each cup (for example, the first bracket is only the Mushroom Cup). We normally do all 16 per bracket but have also in the past done a combination of cups (first bracket is cups 1+2, second is 2+3, and final is 3+4), or drawing courses out of a hat at random. If you guys need assistance with the setup and rules please let me know. I want everyone to have an enjoyable time :)

Going to feel weird for me cause it's been years since I've played any platform games. I was the king of QuakeLive though on my PC.

Sorry guys, won't be able to make it to this event. Make sure you play some 8-bit games on my behalf!

    April 13, 2014

  • Ricky

I'm still deciding and I have some questions!

    1. What were past events like? (assuming v1.0 and v2.0 and v[masked] exist)

    2. What kind of games can I expect?

    April 6, 2014

    • Ricky

haha it was just a guess. If their code don't have anything to handle exceptions like that it will crash. I'm pretty sure diablo and WoW use integers for damage. But I think Blizzard just make it a cap because someone had more gold than the max integer limit and they couldn't get anymore.

      April 9, 2014

    • Jay

The number you're talking about is 2,147,483,647. It's a pretty cool number. It's the maximum value for a 32-bit signed integer, proven in 1772 to be prime by Euler, is the 8th Mersenne prime (these are expressed as 2^n - 1 which in this case is 2^31 - 1) and only the 4th known double Mersenne prime (because 31 can be expressed as 2^5 - 1) and it also makes your games crash if it wasn't programmed to handle it.

Remember those text based adventure games that require you to type in a word or sentence? Those were the shit. I remember one with seeing Adolf Hitler in hell. Forgot the name though.

Anyone interested in playing star trek online before/ after the event? It's not old school, but I've been looking for a group of people to play it with.
