Diversity in OSS: Are We As Open As Our Code? by Coraline Ada Ehmke

The Open Source community is built on four core values: the free exchange of ideas, collaboration, responsibility, and meritocracy. Let’s explore how these values relate to and intersect with recent efforts to make the community more diverse and welcoming to women, minorities, people on the LGBT spectrum, and other underrepresented populations.


Coraline Ada Ehmke

Coraline Ada Ehmke is a speaker, author, teacher, open source advocate and technologist with 20 years of experience developing apps for the web. As a co-founder of LGBTech.org and founder of OpenSourceForWomen.org, she works diligently to promote diversity and inclusivity in the tech industry. Her current interests include small-application ecosystems, APIs, business intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics. She’s a senior engineer for Instructure, creators of the Canvas open-source learning management platform.
