Re: [Geeknight-Dallas] Coming to the end of another calendar year--

I was slammed last week and then came down with the flu this week so don't take my absence as an aversion to Haskell. :-D I actually was interested in those videos though now I'm concerned about how far behind I'd be for any more. I'm definitely interested in Scala and Clojure.

It would be interesting to have a group project but I'm also up to my eyeballs in side projects as it is. I would be interested in seeing short presentations by other members on what they are working on. That might be a good way for some collaboration to develop.

What would you like to see as activities for calendar year 2012.

We already have a suggestion to watch an Erlang video after we finish the Haskell.

Is there a particular open source project you want to contribute to?

Is there an idea you have for a project that you would like to pitch to the group?

Would you like to see more of a rotation through various languages in a structured manner?

  • Do Java (C#), Ruby (Python), Haskell (Scala) on separate weeks in a month?
  • Do mobile app, web app, console/desktop app on separate weeks in a month?
  • Work through something like 'Seven Languages in Seven Weeks'?

I'm sure there are many more possibilities. What would make Geek Night a 'must attend' activity for you? What would encourage/compel your friends/coworkers to attend?
