Tens of thousands of gamers have joined together to save the lives of local kids in a celebration of gaming culture that we call Extra Life. From console games to tabletop RPG's to even lawn sports, Extra Life gives people that love to play a chance to do what they love to save lives and make a difference.
Originally designed as a 24-hour marathon of gaming, Extra Life has evolved to mean different things to different people (though most of our participants still attempt the marathon).
To participate you need only sign up (free) and gather the support of your friends and family through tax-deductible donations to your local Children's Miracle Network Hospital (BC Children's Hospital). Then on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 (or any day that works for you!) play any game(s) you want on any platform(s) that you want with anyone you want for as long as you want.
The proceeds from Extra Life stay where they're raised to support children's hospitals.
Since 2008, Extra Life's incredible players have raised more than 8 million dollars worldwide, $4 million of which was raised in 2013 alone!
We are going to play both board games & video games (hopefully - about the video games!)
If you want to play video games PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLERS!! As well as games you want to play. We will have a selection there as well (list to be updated)
Please bring your own food or drink, preferably something non-greasy so we don't get grease all over expensive gaming equipment & board games. The hall has a kitchen with microwave, fridge & stove.
We may order take out at some point depending on demand.
If you bring any alcoholic beverages, Drink responsibly and don't trash the venue if you are losing in a game.
We have our own Extra Life team! Our team page will be available soon. I invite you to donate to this wonderful cause and/or join our team and be a hero to kids!
To donate to support the LM Heroes 4 Kids team and BC Children's Hospital:
-Go to LM Heroes 4 Kids Team Page.
-Click on any Geeks and Gamers team member's name.
-Click on Support Me!
All proceeds are going to BC Childrens Hospital (part of the Children's Miracle Network)!
Where does your money go after you made your donation?
Without going into too much details, donations made online will be collected by Children's Miracle Network. Children's Miracle Network will send funds to local children's hospitals 4 times a year, ie. BC Children's Hospital. These funds will include funds you have donated. BC Children's Hospital will put these funds into a budget for urgent care where it will be used to save children's lives.
I have booked the hall in my housing complex for us to use. If you can bring some food or drinks to help us out that would be amazing!
It is the main stand alone building on the Left hand side as you enter off of 80th Avenue. The door is on the side of the building. Click on image below to enlarge.
There is absolutely NO visitors parking anywhere on the grounds, but there is free parking directly across the street all along 80th Avenue. Click on the image below to enlarge and see where the parking is.
The hall is a big open room that has some fold up tables and chairs, as well as a couple couches to sit on. There is a kitchenette there, with a fridge, stove and sink, kettle and coffee pot. I will get us some plastic/paper plates etc - then we don't have to worry about dishes. There is also a washroom as well.
Check out our Extra Life Page below:
If you are coming to visit us or play with us don't forget to bring your favorite game & controllers if you want to play a video game!!
If you have any further questions or comments, please do let me know!
Let' get together & have some fun & raise funds for some kids!
Oh yea I wanted to make it clear to everyone - this event is a 24 hr event, but YOU don't have to be there 24 hrs. Last year I did 24 hrs since I was receiving donations - it's part of my pledge.
This year, again since I am taking donations & pledging to do this, I will be there 24 hrs, come & join me if you have time or drop by & say hi & play some games with me. it will be a great time! :)
