Caching the Grind - Grouse Grind Geocaches

We will meet at the parking lot & start off with this cache

We will hike the grind and get the three other caches.

We will be doing this casually & taking our time.  As a curvy girl who is a novice hiker & working on getting back in shape, I don't want to have a heart attack geocaching! Plus it's my first time doing the grind & I know I can't make it up there fast!

Trail Facts

Length: 2.9 kilometres (1.8 miles)
Elevation Gain: 853 metres (2,800 feet)
Base: 274 metres above sea level (900 feet)
Summit: 1,127 metres (3,700 feet)
Total Stairs: 2,830 Statistics: Annually, over 150,000 people hike the trail.
Average Time: On average it takes up to an hour and a half to complete the hike. For novice hikers, two hours is recommended.
Participants: Hikers range in age from 7 to 90, with an equal male/female split.

Starting at 10 am and going at a decent slow pace (giving ourselves 2 hrs or so to do it), we should be finished everything by 1-2 pm.

This will still be a great time!

This is an outdoor hiking/walking event.

Please dress accordingly to the weather & season & bring sunscreen & bug spray etc.

Make sure to bring LOTS of water!

Parking is PAY parking and make sure to bring $10 to take the tram down.

You might also want to bring money to buy an I survived the grouse grind shirt or hoodie at the top.

Also, if anyone needs to make carpool or travel arrangements, please post in the comments.  We are recommending carpooling, not only for the distance & sharing gas, but this parking lot is also a pay parking lot.  Let's team up & go together to split costs (plus carpooling is better for the environment!)

Sorry, cycling the KVR from Hope to Penticton. Bring lots of water (1-2 L), and seriously plan for 2-3 hours for the first time. Totally recommend doing the BCMC over the Grind itself. Wear good runners or hiking boots. Have fun and remember - they serve the best beer in the world at the top!

Ohh have fun cycling the KVR! That will be a beautiful ride. How long will that take you?

I have only biked from Penticton to Kelowna, but that was a bazillion years ago when I used to be highly active & in shape. Recently this year we walked part of it near Naramata on a geocaching trip.
