I Don't Know What Kind of Nerd That Is

Introduction

My name is David. I'm a computer support agent with multiple certifications. I'm a big Nintendo fanboy. I'm also very interested in singing and other performing arts. I want to meet new people and get away from my various desks.

What flavor of Geek/Nerd variant do you consider yourself to be? What kind of social happenings best fit into your particular theme of un-conforming?

Well, I'm primarily a tech nerd. I enjoy working with computers and playing videos games. I'm also a theatre nerd. Finally, I tend to research things and spit out masses of pointless trivia(I dont' know what kind of nerd that is). I enjoy things involving music and other creative work, gaming, and pretty much any shameless indulgence of the nerdy variety.

Are you a Social Butterfly? Do you play well with others? Do you enjoy meeting new people? If so, would you be willing to help out our Nerd Posse leadership team with regularly recurring activities by occasionally hosting events at public locations?

I definitely enjoy spending time with other people. You could say that I'm shy and reserved until you get me going(after that, watch out). I would be very interested in helping to plan things and I'm already working on some of my own meetup groups.

When you finally discovered this group after an arduous quest thru Meetup for a flock of odd ducks who naturally “get” your unique brand of slightly off, did you squeal like a piglet, do a happy dance, then have to adjust your glasses? (BE HONEST!)

Hm. I'm not very good at pig noises, I'm a terrible dancer, and I don't wear glasses. Beyond that, I've already been pleasantly surprised by what great opportunities meetup.com can offer. But just because I'm maintaining my dignity right now doesn't mean you won't get to see me happily embarrass myself once I have a chance to join in the fun!

What Deejay is saying about this Meetup Group

Everyone was very friendly and really seemed to enjoy socializing. I'm looking forward to seeing more of everyone and I'll be throwing some of my own ideas into the mix.

  • I hear you... I am just trying to provide a space for people to use. I'm not necessarily trying to say we can't use YMB. Sometimes it's nice to switch off between the two. *Shrug*

I'm not sure when I can set one up yet anyway. I still need to get some tables up. I'm not quite sure where I put them. >.>

  • No worries. I'm just offering my place since the basement is completely bare and my roommate said I could use it for group events. I'm currently using it on every 3rd Sat of the month for book club. I have other Saturdays available for it.

My schedule tends to only allow me to have time for group events on weekends since most events tend to start around 5 or so on weekdays, and I am abed at 8. :-\

  • Derp... I also finished the Minish Cap. Forgot that one. And Phantom's Hourglass. That was before I sold my DS a long time ago. I really wish I didn't sell it.

  • Well... Unless someone has a wireless router that we can use as a bridge to access the wireless and use ethernet on a switch.

  • It will be strictly wireless though. The router is upstairs in my room and he wouldn't want me to wire the CAT5 all the way from my room, through the hallway and kitchen, to the basement.

  • If I can convince my roommate to let me use the basement for LAN gaming, I can probably fit 10 people. But I will need tables and chairs to do so. That way we can use the wireless there. It will have to be done no later than 10pm on weekdays though. Weekends are good until midnight or so.

  • No worries about LAN being WIP. I enjoy being part of it even though my recent visit was a little bit unsettling. I'm not necessarily pointing fingers. I just usually feel that way until I warm up and know more people. Maybe having SC will help me expand my comfort circle a little more :)

  • Yeah that's what I meant.

Unfortunately I don't have a 3DS or a wii, so I can't take advantage of all the great newer or reincarnated Zelda games :(

  • Just wondering... It's really cool to meet up with people who likes playing the Legend of Zelda games.

By far I have only played the following games:
    Original (never finished it)
Link's Awakening II (didn't finish this one either)
    Ocarina of Time
    Majora's Mask
    Wind Waker
    Twilight Princess
    Oracle of Ages
    Oracle of Seasons
    Link to the Past
    Link's Awakening DX

That's all I can recall at the moment... I mainly love the Ocarina of Time (save for the Water Temple).
