Come sword fight with us! Silverdain Wargaming Event

The brave warriors of the Silverdain wargaming club have valiantly invited the Geeks to crash an upcoming battle!

It's all the fun of tabletop gaming, but with actual hitting!

Meetup Details:  We will meet in Westover Park in Harrisonburg (near the pool).   If anyone gets to the park and can't find the group, feel free to text me at (540) 383-5914.

Costumes:  Newbies are granted leniency for the first several battles so costumes aren't strictly necessary for this meeting.  But, while you could do battle in Muggle clothing, this is also an opportunity to rock the sword fighting garb.  Do you have a chain mail tunic?  A battle worthy kilt?  Leather armor?  Then this is the place to show it off!

Weapons:  There will be loaner weapons available for newbies.  If you bring your own homemade weapon, it must meet certain safety specifications outlined in the rulebook (link below). For example, it can't actually be sharp or able to give someone a concussion.  All weapons must have a stiff non-metal core and be padded with a semi-hard closed cell foam.  An example of this type of foam would be the blue camping rolls they sell at Wal-Mart.  This also has the advantage of being cheap and easy to cut up.  If you have any questions about what is allowable, the fellows at Silverdain would be glad to clarify any questions.  All the hits are real, so we want to play as safely as possible.

Characters:  You get to pick your character.  Be thinking of an awesome backstory!  The type of character you choose (Mage, Fighter, Ranger, Monk, Assassin, etc.) determines your unique skills and the type of weapon you carry.  At a minimum, come prepared with an epic battle name.

More info about Silverdain:  They follow the Darkon Wargaming Club rulebook, which can be found here:

You can follow the group on Facebook, and they will also be featured at the Stone Tower Glenn Renaissance Faire.

Thanks for coming out today! For anyone that missed today's fight I will be posting several future Silverdain events. (Now that I actually have some inkling of what I'm doing, lol)

There will be an arrow shaped sign that says "Battle Event" in the parking lot in front of the pool. See you there!

Here is an updated message from one of the Silverdain members: "So as an update, we will be letting you guys play as a level 5 of any character class you want so you can get a feel of whatever classes you like. We may also be forming mock countries to let you guys play out land searches an the main battle will be a capture the flag match..We will hopefully have pre made spell incantations for spells if you guys plan to play those classes."

pretty strong maybe, if I do come, first I've got to rebuild my swords, I doubt either of them would pass anymore.

I am trying to give the Silverdain guys a heads up on roughly how many people to expect. For those that are "maybes" are you leaning yay or nay?

Spectators are welcome! Even if you don't want to hit things, it's still fun watching other people hit things.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
