3 out of 101 Hikes: Old Landing Cove Trail

**UPDATE**

I have just checked the weather and there are chances of showers all day tomorrow. The percentages are low after 11am. Today I hiked the area and around 12pm the skies cleared up. So I think the best chances of us getting good visibility is if we start the hike around 11am and finish up at 1pm. Which is what I had originally planned. The 9am time was for ppl to meet up to carpool and such.
I will be heading out from Sunnyvale around 9:15ish and will meet everyone at the park at 10:45am. The hike will start promptly at 11:00am. Make sure to bring warm clothes and of course a rain coat.
I will have a yellow backpack and green raincoat on with a grey hat. I will be by the restrooms since the hike starts at the right of the restrooms.
Please email me if you decide to come and need my phone number. :D

A year ago I purchased the Moon Book: 101 Great Hikes of the San Francisco Bay Area. This will be the third hike scheduled out of that book. I had a blast starting the book with this group and I am looking forward to working through with you guys too!

Hike 3 Details:

Name: Old Landing Cove Trail
Level: Easy
Distance: 2.5 miles
Time: 1.5 hours
Elevation: Negligible
Cost: $10.00 per vehicle for parking

"Summary: The dramatic Davenport shoreline is spread out before you on this easy, inviting walk." -Ann Marie Brown (Author)

Excerpt: “Even if you are not fortunate enough to have a bobcat cross your path, you’ll still enjoy the trail’s other highlights, including a seal rookery, spectacular jagged bluffs, sandy beaches, and a hidden fern cave.”

Suggested Plan:
Hike the trail.
Have a picnic at end or beginning of trail.
Option of exploring other parts, if any.

I have never hiked these trails before so I will be as new to it as most of you, but I got the book! And if you know the trail awesome!!!

Will definitely set up a carpool due to distance and the cost of parking. :D

Will set up more details once the date is closer.

DIRECTIONS: From Santa Cruz drive north on Highway 1 for four miles. Turn left into the entrance to Wilder Ranch State Park, the follow the park road to its end and park in the main parking area. Old Landing Cove Trail starts to the right of the restrooms. **You can also park along the highway to avoid being charged the 10 bucks. I will wait from 10:45-11:00am for hikers by the restrooms**

I just moved back to the bay after living in Santa Cruz for six months. I love wilder ranch and I surf there all the time at 3mile point. I'm just wondering where we are meeting... bc wilder is a pretty big place. there is a main parking lot off of highway 1 with a pay booth and bathrooms... is that the spot?? btw... there is plenty of free parking on 1 if anyone wants to a skip the fees for concrete.

Would love to go on these hikes, but I cant plan that far in advance due to work schedule.
On another note, I'll most likely take my wife on your first hike idea this weekend (if weather permits).
