"Doggie Protective Services is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. Our rescued dogs and cats live in foster homes until we can find them appropriate, responsible, loving homes. We carefully screen potential adoptors through an application and interview process.
America is in the midst of a pet over-population crisis which results in the senseless death of millions of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats each year. Of the 6 to 8 million dogs and cats that enter America's shelters each year, 3 to 4 million are euthanized. Shelters struggle to accommodate the endless stream of dogs and cats that arrive daily at their door. Underfunded and overwhelmed, all too often they are left with no choice but to euthanize thousands of perfectly healthy and loving dogs and cats each day.
We intend to save as many abandoned, abused and neglected dogs as possible, provide them with a loving secure environment in which to rehabilitate their souls and rekindle their spirits, and then find them appropriate forever homes with owners who will love and cherish them for the remainder of their lives. Since our inception in 2001, we have saved hundreds of unwanted dogs, most of them facing euthanasia in overcrowded shelters in the Southern California communities of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties."
Volunteers help walk dogs, play with the puppies, set up and tear down the event. Tera and Donna drive up from Southern California every weekend to introduce the dogs rescued from Southern California to potential Northern California adopters. They are truly a remarkable and dedicated group.
