- This position has historically been focused on CAD and engineering work but there is a need for it to be more GIS focused. This intro summarizes the need better than the official announcement on the city's career website.

The City of Rockville is seeking an Engineering Technician I to work in the Department of Public Works Engineering Division. Experience with water/wastewater and/or stormwater utility GIS mapping experience is preferred. The technician should have a strong understanding of the principles and methodologies associated with GIS technology. The CAD tasks will be related to projects involving sidewalks, storm drain and paving, water and sewer and other civil/ transportation engineering projects for the City's capital improvement program. The technician will also complete engineering plan reviews and issue permits to ensure conformation to City laws and regulations for: single family home developments; utility company permits (Verizon, Pepco, Washington Gas, Comcast etc.); and other minor development projects.
