Tell us about yourself. What work do you do with geography, GIS, or geodata? Why are you excited about GeoPhilly?

I currently manage enterprise GIS at the City of Philadelphia's Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT). The GIS Services Group (GSG) provides award winning enterprise GIS services and support to the City of Philadelphia's government and its citizens. We manage a GIS central data warehouse, provide a variety of publicly accessible GIS websites for example, www.phila.gov/map, we host an extensive library of geospatial web services and we help foster communication and collaboration among GIS professionals and others interested in GIS in the City of Philadelphia.

What geo-related topics are you interested in?

I am interested in enabling applications and website with geospatial functionality by embedding responsive maps, on the fly editing and address standardization and verification. Open geospatial data and mobile mapping seems to be getting a lot of attention these days. In the City, we are looking to release new and exciting data sets never released before. Hopefully, we will enable hackers and developers to build civic apps that will benefit our citizens.

Are you interested in presenting at a future event?

Sure.
