Geocaching since the beginning almost. I'm not a prolific cachers, but do enjoy the game and follow it all the time. I enjoy finding and placing caches. I'm NOT a fan of nano and micro caches, and am rather "traditional" because of my early days.
More group outings. I just think it's easier and more cost affective (fuel prices and all) and more social to group up. Seeing if this is a little more local, since the main sites at goecaching forums and even MD GPS society seem to have little in the DC area.
Long gone now, but it was call forbidden forest or something like that. It was somewhat related to Harry Potter, which I didn't realize as HP was pretty much unknown at the time (no movies). It was southern Germantown, MD along Rt. 355 right along the Gaithersburg line. My second (or third...can't remember) was the very rare Project Ape cache at Lake Needwood. It was the first (and only for years) special icon cache. My first fine was in March of 2002, and there was only about 12 caches in the entire area of Montgomery County.
As mentioned above, since March 2002. Only 12 caches in Montgomery County, and probably 100+/- in the entirety of Maryland.
