Protest "The Cruelest Show on Earth" in Duluth

In the Ringling Brothers Circus, elephants are beaten, hit, poked, prodded, and jabbed with sharp hooks, sometimes until bloody.

Constant travel means that animals are confined to boxcars, trailers, and trucks for days at a time in extremely hot or cold weather, often without access to basic necessities such as food, water, and veterinarian care. Elephants, big cats, bears, and primates are confined to cramped and filthy cages in which they eat, sleep, drink, defecate, and urinate, all in the same place.

In November 2011, Ringling was fined $270,000 by the USDA for multiple violations of the Animal Welfare Act. This is the largest fine ever assessed against a circus under the Animal Welfare Act. Ringling has made history as The Cruelest Show on Earth.

This is a legal and peaceful gathering. Posters, banners, and leaflets will be provided. The more activists we have to protest, the bigger the effect.

We will be meeting at the main entrance to the Gwinnett Center.  You can park across the street in the Kroger's plaza.

Here is GARP at Philip's Arena in Atlanta February 2013.

Great turnout inspite of the freezing temperatures. It only proves how committed everyone who attended are!
Thanks everyone that made it to our protest! Special Thanks to the young kids who came all the way from LaGrange almost 2 hours drive each way and stayed the whole time!

[Off-Topic] ARE YA'LL FAMILIAR WITH THIS?: paraphrased info forwarded Subject: Tethering and TNR laws challenge Fw: HB 409 -- please oppose

To _____: I am not sure if you are aware but there is a House bill which has already passed Committee in the Georgia General Assembly that would severely restrict local governments' abilities in the realm of a number of animal welfare issues, including banning the tethering of dogs and running TNR programs. [Barry has a copy of it.] The sender of this message contacted his own legislative delegation asking them to oppose the bill (HB 409) but he urged the recipients to call on animal welfare supporters that you might know across the state to get active again and to contact their own local Senators & House members to ask them to oppose HB 409 for the reasons outlined below. This bill cannot be defeated by just the delegation here in ___. It needs animal welfare supporters across the state to contact their members of the General Assembly.

Hey Barry, yes, we have been notified about the HB 409. We agree it is bad legislation for animals. There is also legislation (HOUSE BILL 423) that would allow the trapping of live raccoons to be used for field trials. We are encouraging everyone to contact their house reps and ask them NOT to support HB 423. We have sent out an alert about this and posted it on Facebook. Please be sure to go there and share the information as well. Thanks for caring about the animals!
