Georgia Animal Rights and Protection (GARP) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the abolition of animal exploitation and suffering. GARP began in 2003 by a handful of local activists who believed Georgia would benefit from an organized, cohesive animal rights group. GARP works towards protecting animals being exploited in the name of entertainment, Science, sport, fashion and food. Setting up information tables at events, making school presentations, leafleting, demonstrating, lobbying for stronger anti-cruelty legislation and speaking to the public through the media are some of the tools GARP utilizes in order to educate the public. GARP holds demonstrations, meetings, fundraisers and social events while maintaining an active e-mail list to keep members connected and informed on what’s happening in Georgia.
