Camping, Hiking, Cooking, Near Big Frog Wilderness in TN




This  will  be  a  blast !    Car  camping  means  you  drive  to your  site!  Bring  everything  you  need!

This  will be  primitive,  no privy...  no  running  water, but  on a very nice  stream to  filter  and  swim,  preferably  downstream  lol!

We  will  arrive  whenever you want to,  set  up cook Friday night and Sat night  hike on Saturday,  to Big Frog Mt!  This is a 10 mile round trip!  Rated  STRENOUS!

We will either do pot luck or I'll do meals  one  night  and  breakfast  on Sunday!

If you  google big  creek  trailhead   big  frog  wilderness you  can get  directions!

If you have  never  done  car  camping  with this  group  you are in  for a treat !

PLEASE PLEASE  READ THESE  DIRECTIONS NOW! if you  come  from   Mansell  area  you  go to copperhill  tennessee, through town  to highway  64 about three miles turn  left on   64   GOING west,, go past ocoee  whitwater  center, a big  commmercial place  for  kayaking  about  a mile past it  is #3  powerhouse,  big  concrete  bridge over  river  on left, go across   bridge, past   powerhouse, turn left  on dirt  road  FS  road   45 go   three miles  to  a  dead end    that  is FS  road 221  turn  right  go    about  five miles to camping  area, you  will  see us  there! on both  sides of the  road!     if  your coming up  from atlanta  area, you  take  411  all the way to  cisco  Ga   turn right, at  cisco   babtist church  and highway   two  (2)   THEN  YOU HAVE  ABOUT  14 MILES OF  DIRT  ROAD, THE  FIRST  FEW MILES  HAVE  SOME  BIG  POT  HOLES,  BUT  AFTER  YOU  TURN  ON  221  ITS OKAY  BUT  FOR  ABOUT  10MILES  WATHC   OUT ESP. IF YOU HAVE ALOW  PROFILE  VEHICKLE  BE  CAREFU;/  GO OVER  TWO  RIVER  BRIDGES   FIRST   IS  CONCRETE  SECOND  IS  AN OLD  IRON  BRIDGE,    TURN RIGHT   ON   THAT  ROAD  GO  THREE MILES TO   221  TO  COPPERHILL   TURN  RIGHT  ON THAT  ROAD  ,  NO YOU ARE NOT  GOING TO  COPPERHILL, GO  6 MILES  TO CAMPING  AREA!    please read updates   at least   weekly

if  you  want  an easier  but longer way  to  go, 30 minutes  20 miles longer  from  Atlanta take   411 all  way  to  highway  64  in tennessee, turn  east towards  Murphy  NC,  go  to  whitewater  put in  area   on  64  ocoee  river  when yo  see  a  sign says  thunderrock  campground   on 64  turn  right  go acrooss  bridge  go around  building turn  left  go  three miles  to stop  sign  turn  right  go  five miles   you  cant miss us  on both sides of  road!  at the  creek  crossing!  you  can  drive  any vehicle  on this  road  no  pot holes  but its  gravel  after you  leave  64!  Remember  we  are hiking  10 miles on  Sat   morning  (I think)!  maybe   12  so be prepared! I was there   yesterday just posted  a new  pic!! lol  IT IS  BEAR  COUNTRY

    Thanks to all that showed upp Im still having a great time! rain all night last night we did another 8miles yesterday up Frog! shower canopy on ground this morning from the rain!! had to cut a tree out of road at 500 am this morning to get home! going back today! lol! thanks to RC and Theresa for all you did in the past week to help!
