We're excited about this Saturday's Cherokee Trail Hike at Stone Mountain, and we hope you can join us!
This 5 mile hike has an "Easy to Moderate" rating. So please consider joining Keeping It Wild and Hartfield's Hikers for this fun outing. Check out the photos taken earlier this week...the trail is gorgeous!
We will meet at 8 a.m. sharp inside the park near the west gate by the parking lot near the restrooms, behind Confederate Hall at the base of the mountain.
We will hike the Cherokee Trail which explores much of the Natural District around the base of Stone Mountain. As the tradition has begun, Hartfield's Hikers and Keeping It Wild, will join together again this year.
As always, wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots, and of course, wear comfortable layered clothing, preferably no cotton. Cotton holds moisture and if and when you perspire, you will be chilled. Bring water and snacks. According to Weather.com the forecast will be mostly sunny with a high of 56 degrees. Bring water and healthy snacks.
Unless you have a park pass or want to pay $10 to park, you can opt to park at the Sun Trust overflow parking lot, directly across the street from the Stone Mountain MARTA Park & Ride lot, for free. It is located at E Mountain and 4th streets.
It is a very short walk down E Mountain, directly to the walk-through gate, we will be straight ahead in the open area, near the restrooms, waiting for you.
If you have any questions on Saturday morning, please contact Angelina Tyson at (770)[masked] or Carolyn Hartfield at (678) 231-4973.
