I lived in Germany for 2 years as a young child. My dad is a theologian, and the country's rich philosophical tradition provided him with lots of reasons to work there. We lived in two Bavarian villages (Alling and Petershausen) outside of Munich. Thanks to my childhood experience, I have a very positive, somewhat nostalgic relationship to the language, and I am well versed in German kid's shows from the early 90's :) When you learn a language at such an early age, it sticks with you. I transferred into 3rd year German at Lewis and Clark College. I learned some grammar, but it is still very patchy - don't expect me to use die/der/das correctly, for example! Still, my courses gave me the chance to brush up on the language and read awesome classic German literature. It's been a while and my German is my rusty. But I was fliessend as a child, and whenever I practice I remember how lovely and fun it is to speak German!
My name is Rebecca, and I am in love with traveling and cross-cultural communication! I'm 27 with an Bachelor's in Spanish and German, and a Master's in teaching ESL. I teach ESL in San Francisco, but I grew up and live in Santa Rosa :)
