An overview: MEETUP has 450+ groups in Auckland and growing!
Many groups are "Special interest" - e.g hiking, walking, yoga, cooking, camping, fishing, dining, discussion, philosophy, meditation, IT, business.
Others are "Age-restricted" - e.g Auckland 20s-30s Social Group,Auckland Classy Social Events for Professionals 40's-50's, Baby Boomers etc.
Then there are the "Social groups" - Auckland Friendship Group, North Shore Socials, 20s-30s Social Group, GSO, Auckland Allsorts, Socializing out East, SAGS (South Auckland Gatherings) and US!!
This group was started by Danielle Metcalfe in 2009. She held the reins and led the group very successfully until mid-December 2013. She is still actively involved as our Assistant Organiser. Formerly Nightlife group, Night and Day Socials, Get out Get Socializing and now Get out Get Social - Auckland.
Name changes reflect the changing and evolving nature of the group. We desire to cater to current members needs as many choose to only join 1-4 Meetup groups. We offer a little bit of everything - in and around, Auckland SuperCity and beyond!
Welcome to *Get Out - Get Social - Auckland*
Our mission is to offer a safe, fun, and friendly environment for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are new to Auckland or have been living in Auckland for many years.
You may be male, female, gay, lesbian, trans, a single, a couple, loud, shy, a workaholic or a student, foreign or local, professional or rough-around-the-edges.
If you are aged 20+, and have an earnest desire to GET OUT AND SOCIALISE ~ then we look forward to meeting you at an event soon.
The Rules to Join:
1). Every person who joins must commit to attending a meetup at least once every 3 months or 4 times a year! Not too much to ask... I do view and track attendance and inactive members.
2). Every profile must include a GOOD photo of YOU only.
NO sunglasses - avatars - cartoons - drawings - couples or group photos - pics with your kids or your pets - or long distance shots accepted !! It may sound simple, but some people need reminding ...
3). Keep your RSVP's up-to-date and take your name off the list if your circumstances change. If you are unsure, just add a comment below the event. Our hosts are very understanding but "no shows" annoy!
4). If you need a lift to a Meetup or can offer a ride, say so on the Meetup event. Lack of transport or funds should not limit you from getting out and about.
5). Write a review after you attend a Meetup. Good or bad or mediocre. This is the only way we know how we are going, and areas where we need to improve. Reviews are much appreciated!
6). Get out of your comfort zone and try new things! Too many people lead lives of "Quiet Desperation" - that is NOT LIVING !!.... enough said.
