Seriously, put on your dance shoes and learn traditional Irish folk dancing. Each Céilí starts with a lesson at 7:15pm and dancing at 8pm. Live music. The dances are taught and called, and no experience or partner is needed.
The Irish word, ‘Céilí’, has several meanings. It can indicate a specific type of dance - Céilí figure dances - but it can also it can mean a dance event. At the Portland Céilí Society's third Friday Céilí dances it means an evening of traditional Irish music, dance & drink. At the events, Céilí dances, set dances and two hand dances (such as shoe the donkey) are called. Check out a video:

Thanks Shelley for putting this together. I think we all had a blast even though we looked like something the cat dragged in after the 4th dance. I think we all dropped at least 5lbs!! We need to do this on a regular basis!

Hello All You Twinkle Toes,
I first wanted to point out that you will not be doing the whole leg twirling you might see on River Dance. These are pretty basic folk dances. Watch the video on the original Meet-up posting for examples.
We are meeting at the Portland Police Athletic Association building in the ballroom. The only sign on the building is neon with PPAA on it. We'll meet at the door to the ballroom. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Street parking.
Cost $10.00.
