This is a heavily traveled area by climbers and the sandstone rock is ever degrading. Amazing Face (90') is the most well known. It's a Classic that has become more difficult because the features have been sanded off by climbers. It was originally 5.7 and 5 stars but now it is becoming accepted as a 10a with only 3 stars.
None the less, I'm just getting started on outdoor lead and I feel comfortable with Amazing face because I top roped it last month. It's like the gym in that you can have clean/fun falls on this 90' vertical face. Please be lead climb/belay certified or equivalent.
I have a rope and anchor. If you RSVP this meetup, indicate your general location for carpooling considerations and whether you can provide a rope/anchor. You will need to bring a lunch and a lot of water. Poison Oak is prevalent but easy to avoid and combat if you talk to me about it. Trust me, I have a life long understanding of poison oak :)
As a reminder, please read again the GYCO helmet policy and liability waiver:
We strongly recommend you wear a helmet while climbing on a GYCO meetup. If you arrive at a GYCO outdoor climbing trip without a climbing helmet or are unable to borrow one from a peer, you may be asked to clear the climbing area or leave the meetup by your organizer should any safety issues occur. This policy is put in place to reduce the risk of injury to yourself and others from falling rocks and climbing gear so please respect your organizer, meetup participants and GYCO's safety policy.
