Safety note: We will be doing lead climbing and belaying, you are expected to either bring your gym lead belay card or have someone attending event vouch for you. If you have not led outdoors - that's fine, but you must have prior (gym) experience. We will not be teaching how to lead belay at this event.
I will bring sport rack, rope, and stick clip.
What do you need?
- Climbing gear, helmet (please indicate if you can bring rope and quickdraws)
- Snacks & lots of water
- A desire for safe fun.
If you arrive late use this map to guide you to the crag:
Easiest access is via the main Castle Rock State Park parking lot. Proceed down the Saratoga Gap trail for approximately 0.25 miles. On the right, you'll see a signed trail directing you to "Castle Rock 0.3 miles". Continue uphill on this trail for approximately 0.25 miles. On the right, note a climber's trail with a log across it, and a sign discouraging you from using it (it says "trail" with an arrow pointing you away from it). Continue for 0.1 miles. You'll come to a small "meadow" with three possible trails. Continue roughly straight and uphill.
Disclaimer: Climbing is serious & dangerous so if you choose to attend - climb at your own risk. GYCO or meetup.com (or myself) is not liable or responsible for any injuries you may incur.
