The Summit Rock parking lot is on Skyline 1/2 miles north of the Castle Rock gate on the right or 1 1/2 miles south of the hwy 9/Skyline intersection on the left.

In case you're late: From the Summit Rock parking lot: Approach time: 10 - 15 minutes. Follow the trail out of the end of the parking lot which will wind it's way gently uphill. At the fork, take the left fork (read the sign if you're not sure) and follow it uphill to the rock. From the top of the rock, follow the fence around to the right and downhill. Work your way around the rock following the dirt path. Bring sweatshirt/jacket since the belay area is mostly in the shade. Also good shoes for rough terrain and glass. We'll be doing an Adopt A Crag before next season, but for now it's trashy and glassy. Though smaller cleanups have helped to make this clime-able.

Don't forget to bring your permits :)

Are there easier(5.10b or less) routes that you guys are planning to climb? Sorry, I don't have a guidebook. Appreciate your response.

My Bruce Morris guidebook counts 2-7's, 1-8, 4-9's and 3-10's on the Lower tier. A couple of the 9's require pro if your leading.

It says there's a few Yosemite-like cracks for practicing jamming, chimney, and off-width techniques.

With Access Fund, a group of us are organizing a huge Adopt A Crag here before the opening of next season. But for now, wear shoes with thick enough soles to avoid a potential glass puncture.

    Stan H
Our cleanup yesterday was a huge success. 7 of us came out to clean and a couple of other climbers who were there borrowed one of our buckets and joined in. We ended up cleaning up about 75lbs of broken glass with about a dozen water bottles and cans. The main climbing areas look much better now, but there are still several areas on the approach trail and downhill from the belay area that still need a lot of work. Also, as we walked around the area, we noticed that our feet were kicking up glass under the dirt in areas we had previously cleaned so there are still going to be layers of glass under the surface. The good news is the upper tier where the bolted anchors are and the lower belay area are looking pretty good.

That's huge!!! Inspired! I added Th-Sat onto my permit for a little cleanup every day on my way to or from work. Couldn't climb CRSP today. It rained a little last night. It's muddy and it will be a few days before people should climb out there.

Yeah, we had pretty decent weather until we started to leave then the fog came in real quick and it got pretty windy and cold.

Hey guys, bring something to take garbage out with you. The area is covered with tons of broken glass at the base. I cleaned a bunch of it out from where we layed our ropes 2 weekends ago so it is a little cleaner, but make sure to bring rope tarps to keep your ropes off the ground and don't step on them just in case there is still glass underneath. Also, at least one climb had broken glass on a ledge and my partner almost put his hand on it. Be extra careful. I will be doing a cleanup there this weekend so it should be a little better but it is going to be a multi-day effort to clean the entire area. Please pitch in any way you can so climbers are seen as a good thing to have there and help keep the area open to climbers. Leave no trace. Pack it in pack it out. Thanks.

I'm not sure where you're talking about but I may have noticed at some time. It's probably a bushwhacked through poison oak to get there though and this time of year it's difficult to tell which sticks are poison oak without the leaves on them.

Oh, and you'll have to call during business hours unless there's a way to do it on line. Since it just opened, I doubt that's possible yet.
