Bought my first container of Climb On! at Eastern Mountain Sports in Philadelphia. Usually I get my Climb On at the gym but I've only been here for two weeks and I've gotten outside to climb twice so I hope to keep that up!
Started climbing in Spring 2012. Embarrassingly enough I was inspired by the Alex Honnold 60 Minutes piece. I have no aspirations to free solo big walls but climbing El Cap is certainly on my list! I am comfortable up to easy 5.12 sport. I boulder up to V4/V5. Favorite type of climbing is sport climbing on limestone. The best place I ever climbed was at Tuolomne Meadows in Yosemite. Breathtaking views on classic multi pitch adventures! Mount Gretna was the first place I ever climbed outside and New River Gorge was the first place I ever sport climbed outside so those places hold some nostalgic value for me.
Safe climbing to me means establishing clear communication protocols with your climbing partner before either person ever leaves the ground. It means inspecting your knots and your gear before every pitch. I always climb with a helmet. I love to challenge myself when I climb but if the first bolt is 20 feet up past a series of hard moves I will definitely be using my stick clip.
Just moved to the Bay Area from Philadelphia. Excited to meet and climb with new people!
