How do you Get Your Climb On?

Maybe there's a simple answer to this one, and I'm just missing it:-) When it comes to climbing, I like it because I like to be active, out and about in nature, hanging out with friendly people, all having fun figuring out ways to get up the wall...

When did you first begin climbing? What is your level? What is your favorite type of climbing? Best place you ever climbed?

I first began climbing about 8 years ago in University College Dublin..I've been climbing on and off since then mainly on the seacliffs and out crops around Ireland with a few trips abroad since then...I'm still getting used to the american grading system, but reckon I'm climbing in the low 5.10's at the moment..My favourite type of climbing is crack climbing. I'm probably a bit biased but the best place I've ever climbed is fairhead in Northern Ireland followed , by the domes around tuolumene meadows in Yosemite National park

What does Safe climbing mean to you?

For me Climbing Safely is about; having a healthy respect for gravity, your own safety and the safety of those you climb with. Its about being proactive in gaining an understanding of how the safety systems work and protecting the route as much as possible...

By joining GYCO this confirms you accept & assume all responsibility & risks that could occur in climbing that you voluntarily release, forever discharge & agree to not hold harmless GYCO or any of its Organizers from any & all claims while in GYCO.

I have read and accept the statement above

My name is Brendan. I'm from Dublin Ireland. I moved to San Jose to start a new job a few weeks ago (Oct-2013). I work hard during the week but love getting out for a climb at the weekends when I get a chance.
