Get-Your-Climb-On (or G.Y.C.O.) is a meetup that brings together rock climbing & outdoor enthusiasts of all experience levels through meetups throughout California at destination-outdoor climbing venues, indoor rock climbing gyms, and social gatherings such as happy hours, BBQs & more. The main Goal is to create an inclusive, diverse, fun, safe, friendly, collaborative, & democratic community through which one can make life-long friendships, share and plan safe & fun climbing trips, expand outdoor and leadership skills, appreciate nature and enjoy the sense of community, teamwork, and challenge that prospers in climbing locales throughout California.

Those new to rock climbing can benefit through beginner friendly meetups geared toward introducing the sport with some basic and beneficial information. Experienced climbers will easily find potential climbing partners through any of the gatherings this meetup has to offer. Members span the full gamut of climbing styles, from indoor gym climbing, to outdoor sport and multi-pitch traditional climbing, bouldering, alpine/ice climbing and mountaineering. Get-Your-Climb-On promotes safe rock climbing through informational meetups that expose members to new safety concepts and techniques. GYCO members, organizers or “Ambassadors of Fun” are constantly learning from others and happily sharing their knowledge. And most of all, we get out and climb, hike or hang out!

As a member you will be able to check activities on this website, and create your own trips/events. Note that all trips should be for GYCO by GYCO, and self powered. People-Powered Progress empowers a community!!!

GYCO actively encourages its members to organize trips but does not supervise the activities. GYCO is not a guide service and a person should only go on trips they feel are appropriate for their ability and experience level.

If you have questions, ask the trip organizer or Ambassadors of Fun! Many trip organizers love to help out new members and will gladly answer any questions you have about the trip, what equipment to bring, etc. Above all else, have fun and be safe!

Please be respectful when you RSVP to events, and only RSVP if you know you will make the event; especially if there is a limited number of spots available. If you end up with three no-shows; whether it's a no call/no show, or a cancel at the last minute; you may be removed from organizing a meetup upon a review committee decision but we hope this is a non issue of course in the spirit of safe fun.
