How do you Get Your Climb On?

In the past, I have used practice walls at gyms, and our wall at my childhood home, and climbed a lot at Devil's Lake in WI and various national parks. I haven't climbed anywhere in the Bay Area yet!

When did you first begin climbing? What is your level? What is your favorite type of climbing? Best place you ever climbed?

First began at age 8. I haven't consistently been active in climbing, and am a bit out of shape at the moment ;), so I would say I am a beginner to intermediate level climber. My favorite is mountain climbing ~ a bit of hiking, a bit of climbing. I have virtually no experience with lead climbing however, as there have always been more experienced climbers with me that did the leading. Most of my experience has been on short top-rope climbs. I am eager to learn lead climbing though! The most fun climb I ever did was at Devil's Tower in Wyoming.

What does Safe climbing mean to you?

It means using the proper gear, always being roped in, double checking knots & harnesses, never leaving extra slack, staying focused when belaying, using partner safety commands, and when lead climbing making sure to re-clip at each anchor.

By joining GYCO this confirms you accept & assume all responsibility & risks that could occur in climbing that you voluntarily release, forever discharge & agree to not hold harmless GYCO or any of its Organizers from any & all claims while in GYCO.

Hi I'm Heather ~ been climbing since I was a kid, but haven't been active in it for awhile. I'd like to change that through this group! :)
