GetHiking! at Umstead State Park

Our first hike offers something for everyone: we'll hike the Company Mill Trail, with options of 2, 4.5 and 6 miles. The 2-miler is an out-and-back over three mellow ridgelines down to Crabtree Creek and the remains of the old Company Mill dam. The 4.5-mile hike includes a shortcut of the entire Company Mill Trail with passage along the bike and bridle trail. And the 6-miler is the full Company Mill enchilada, with a mile-and-a-half stretch that takes you to one of the park's more remote stretches.

I had a great hike, even though I took me a bit to find the correct entrance. Thanks Joe for walking with me.

Not only was the hike great, but making new friends and great conversations along the trail made the hike even better! Awesome group of people!

Really hate having to miss this 1st hike with the group but I have to stick around for the service guy who scheduled at the same time. Enjoy!

This is really close to where I work and I've done the 6-mile loop a number of times, including this evening. If we break up into smaller groups, I'd be comfortable leading one of them.

Hi Chet. I've got one other seasoned hiker who is helping, but if you would like to lend your expertise as well, that would be great. Touch base with me when you arrive (or tonight, if you're attending the kickoff). Thanks!

Don't forget everyone. The Company Mill Trail is in Cary, not in Raleigh. It is the entrance of Reedy Creek when you take Harrison Avenue in Cary.

only enough time to do the 2 or 4 mile. I love the back area; road it often with my horses in[masked] before and just after Fran
when horses were boarded at J&H and riders were everywhere....

Getting back into hiking, might end up doing 2 miles, but I'm game to see how I feel :-)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
