Night hike at Umstead State Park

The holiday crush begins! You may not have time for a long hike, or even a weekend hike, but for the sake of your sanity, you need to get out! Thus, we reprise the popular Umstead night hike on the bike & bridle trail. You can hike as far and long as you like on this out-and-back; we'll plan for a 5-miler out to the cemetery and back. Yes, it will likely be cold, but come prepared with the appropriate layering and you'll be fine.

Hiking at night, under a near-full moon to a cemetery? It doesn't get much better than that.

I am confused I thought the hike was tomorrow? Did the date get changed?

    December 3, 2013

    • Joe M.

Yes, I'm working on permitting with Umstead so our night hikes there are official. That should happen in a week or so; as a result, we've switched the dates of the Barton Creek MST Night Hike (which had been scheduled for Dec. 18) with the Umstead hike.
