POSTPONED: GetHiking! in the Birkhead Mountains Wilderness (11.5-mile version)

DUE TO ICY CONDITIONS ... we're rescheduling this hike for April. However, we'll schedule a replacement hike for this Sunday, at Umstead. Stay tuned for new hike details (if they aren't up yet).

Note that we've added a second option for this hike. In addition to the 11.5-miler (the one we did in November), we've added a 7.4-miler (the one that was advertised for November). If you're more interested in the 7.4-mile hike, please un-RSVP this reservation and RSVP for the 7.4-mile hike. For you newcomers, this is a longer hike than we've done and hillier than most. You'll want to be sure you can do this hike at a 2.5 mph pace to ensure you get back before dark (accounting for a lunch break). You should plan to bring a headlamp in any event. We'll be carpooling again from the Old Navy at Streets at Southpointe. If you're partaking in the carpool, plan to be there by 11 a.m.

I am planning to drive directly to Birkhead Mountains Wilderness ... is there a more specific meeting point (e.g., signage) for where we'll be parking and gathering?

The gravel lot at the trailhead (see map above) is fairly easy to see. There's a kiosk, which should help.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
