GetHiking! After Work on the MST (Part VIII)

We wrap up our month of hikes on the 60-mile stretch of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail with a 3.9-mile hike from Red Mill Road to Penny's Bend. This stretch includes a hike along a bluff overlooking the Eno River, passage over an old railroad trestle (that one day may be part of a rail-trail linking downtown Durham with Person County), and some otherwise scenic hiking along the way. A good way to wrap up our month on the trail. Learn more about this hike here.
Hike rating: Easy (flat, one short climb)
Estimated hiking time: 1.5-2 hours
NOTE: This hike ends with a short (100 yards or so) passage along busy Old Oxford Road (see photo). The shoulder is adequate, but the bridge over the Eno is narrow; use extreme caution when crossing.

I found one tick so tiny that I'm now paranoid about what's lurking In The crevasses of my boots and backpack (not to mention me!!) great hot sweaty hike though!

Sara — several of us had a quick discussion before the hike about spraying your clothes & gear (instead of yourself) to ward off ticks. Here's the stuff that should do the tick trick: http://www.amazon.com...

Last night's hike — or hikes, since some of the group did the "option" — was great! Y'all have a wonderful collective attitude: so what if it was hot and sweaty, we were out in the woods at sunset! Speaking of which, the trail was close in spots; if you haven't already, be sure to give yourself a good once-over for ticks.
