We're trying something new here, mixing both Social and Athletic.....
We're going Cable Water Skiing at one of the very first cable water ski resorts in the US. Think of water skiing (or kneeboarding or wakeboarding) without the need of a boat.
Ski Rixen offers cable waterskiing at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach. It's very fun, safe, and awfully addicting.
I am still working out the details with the owner of Ski Rixen. Depending on the number of RSVP's we get, we will likely reserve the park to ourselves. That means the staff will make sure everyone gets a personalized lesson, and we can even change the speed of the cables depending on the experience of our skiers. I'm hoping we get at least 20 for the event, so this will also be cross-posted with the Outsiders and the Get Out of the House groups. The price per person will be between $19 and $25 (likely even less), depending on the number of people we have RSVP. With at least 17 people, we will have the park to ourselves for two hours so we'll get plenty of runs, plenty of exercise, and have lots of fun. The instruction will begin promptly at 4:00, although later arrivals can get lessons too.
The rates mentioned above will include all equipment (safety helmet, life vests, water skies, etc.) included. Please be sure to bring sunscreen, a towel, water shoes (highly recommended) and, if you like, a change of clothes for dinner (there is a cold water shower on site).
If you don't want to ski, please come out anyway... You only pay if you ski, and there will be some great people watching!
After the fun, I hope you'll join us for a dinner nearby.
