Help Serve Food at Next Door Shelter

Next Door Shelter, in the Tenderloin, is one of two emergency homeless shelters run by Episcopal Community Services (ECS). It is home to 325 people every night. There are separate sections for men and women and residents receive two meals daily.

We will be helping out by serving dinner to these individuals.

    Hi Everyone,

    Thanks for volunteering!

If you can't make it for any reason, no problem. Once you realize this is the case, please just take a moment and change your status to "not attending". This will enable someone from the wait list to take your spot.

Thanks and see you tomorrow night!

Is there any free parking around this place ?

Yes there is street parking. People seem to find parking without too much trouble. I live nearby so I walk.

Hello, this is my first time. Where do we meet and is there anything specific I should bring/wear? Thank you!

It's pretty easy. Tell the security guard at the front door that you are there to volunteer in the kitchen. On the front desk is a sign in sheet where you sign in. Ask the folks at the front desk where the door is to get downstairs to the kitchen. Once you are in the kitchen area, you'll be all set. Mike

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes or sneakers you don't mind spilling water on.

Forgot this day is my first day back volunteering with Reading Partners so I'll have to bow out of this one.
