With so many overwhelmingly stressful and challenging events going on around us in the world via "frankenstorm", fires, wars, unrest in the cities, droughts, and traumatic injuries leaving thousands disabled or worse, dead, orphaned, homeless - what is there so positive to speak of- to inspire us to see beyond the mental, physical and emotional storms and black clouds.
People are awesome. The strength and power of the human mind to face and overcome horrible challenges is well known in movies and famous stories, but what if those amazing people started their journey next door or down the street. Would we recognize their courage and their power their story has to guide us? The power to strengthen our lives to see more clearly and empower our lives.
Karen Toso, editor , writer, teacher and advocate and Shoshana Shamberg, OTR/L, MS, FAOTA, awarding winning occupational therapist, special educator and aging/disability advocacy specialist, have created an exciting program focusing on those stories of people who faced seemingly overwhelming challenges and overcame then to create extraordinary lives filled with powerful messages for each us for creating a more compassionate and accessible world community.
Through bi-monthly seminars, participants will view powerful films, discuss meaningful literature, and experience a bit of the strugglies of those highlighted. CEUs are available for a small additional fee and college credit is pending. Price: $18 or 2/$30 tickets includes popcorn, herb teas, and dark chocolate snacks. See our Facebook page for sharing of information that will touch and enlighten you , as well as, connect you with others who want to engage and learn from those attending the movie viewing.
