Hey Julie, Just wanted to drop you a quick note about a new Meetup group that I think your members might be interested in hearing about. I recently started the Pittsburgh Meteor meetup group. Meteor is a new JS client & server side framework that is open source and allows devs to build quality apps in a fraction of the time. I just wanted to encourage you to check it our and if you had any questions to drop me a note. Cheers, Cory.
(continued from previous post) I am curious why you thought this was inconsistent with the goals of the group, especially because you were at the table where people were asking questions about concepts and jargon, and educating people to attract more women to the profession was, in my naive view, was one of the goals. All I did was offer an opportunity which I saw a clear need for, expressed by several people in the conversation, and my skill set, which would meet those goals they defined.
I proposed a meetup because I saw a button that said "propose a meetup". I had presumed that such a proposal would have gone to you for consideration. If the button had said something appropriate, I would have not used it. I was surprised it put it up as an official event. My response just bounced back from meetup; it forges your name as the sender, but the real sender is info.meetup, com, which eats email and spits back error message. (continued in next post)
Hi Julie, I have been developing software for 20+ years and would love to help out by teaching some courses. What is the process for getting involved from a teaching perspective? I may try to make it to the next social so maybe that would be a good time to talk about it. Thanks.
