One of the most difficult aspects of getting or having a job is making sure you are being paid what you are worth.  All too often women (and men too) do not know how to determine their worth or how to ask for adequate compensation.  More importantly, they do not know the negotiation techniques that will create a result beneficial to all parties - you and your employer.

This workshop will give introduce you to a few tools and tips on evaluating the value of a position, as well as, how to negotiate yourself into your dream job at the right salary. We will cover basic negotiation tactics, the questions to ask, the questions to be prepared for and how to respond to them.  With a combination of discussion, question and answer and role playing, this workshop will help you sharpen your negotiation skills and prepare you to effectively negotiate your salary for your next job offer or salary review.

Thanks for letting me get involved in the conversation via Twitter! Any opportunities for remote participation are super appreciated, especially on weekdays. As other have said, I'm willing to pay to participate via something like Google Hangout.

I'm interested in attending this meeting, but I will be using public transportation to get there. Is the area safe? Is the subway station safe after 9PM? Thanks!

Thanks again, Gloria! I repeated most of your talk to my husband when he picked me up from the train and he also found it very interesting although I couldn't tell it in the engaging lively way that you did! I learned so much last night =)

An excellent real-world approach. Exceeded my expectations. Gave me new things to consider. Answered many questions. Did not rely on gimmicky "pointers" but on being smart about how you enter into these situations. Totally appreciated Gloria's experience and point-of-view.

Gloria is a great speaker: Engaging, clear and interesting. I even hung out afterwards and none tried to put me out!

Please take a moment to complete our survey for yesterday's class. This is a new topic that we weren't sure about hosting, especially since it's a soft-skill class so please tell us what you thought and how it can be better for next time - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDRQVnJ2TFdZLWJNaS1YVWdkd2FhSUE6MA#gid=0. Thank you!

Awesome workshop. Gloria was incredibly knowledgeable, and patiently answered any specific questions we had. Yasmine also, smartly, live-tweeted the event, and asked Gloria any questions that popped up along the way. I ended up learning a ton, and felt like the whole experience was hugely worth-while.

This was great! It was so good to hear about different things to talk about, things to keep in mind and how to talk with people. Gloria's approach is down to earth and universally applicable.

I'm also interested in attending this workshop remotely. I'd be happy to pay the $20 registration fee to do so. Is this an option at this late date?

    March 4, 2013

    • Gloria B.

Unfortunately, it is not an option to offer the workshop remotely, at least at this time.

The O3 World office is easy to reach via public transportation or there is always street parking nearby. I ride the train to and from work every day and feel perfectly safe.
We are approximately 3 blocks from the Girard Avenue station on the Market-Frankford El line. Exit the station and head east on Girard Avenue. Make a right on Frankford Avenue (at Johnny Brenda's). The office is up approximately 2 blocks on the right. Once you pass Lola Bean look for the building where Parlour Hair Salon and Art Machine Productions Tattoo Parlor are located. O3 World is located upstairs. The address is on the door - 1339 Frankford Avenue.

If this is actually as much about 'how to identify and market your strengths' I'd likely sign up.

Is offering this as a Google Hangout a possibility? I'm also from out of town so it can be difficult to make it out to Philly on a weeknight but I'm interested.

I'm not a technologist, but salary negotiation is super relevant to my interests. Would this be a good event for me as a creative professional?

    February 16, 2013

    • Gloria B.

Tricia, there will be good general salary negotiation information for any profession, so please come if it interests you.
