PSD to HTML Project Day

We're trying something a little different. By now, you may have taken a couple of HTML/CSS classes or dabbled with it on your own. It's time to take what you've learned and practice your skills by building a webpage from scratch.

Join us in a group setting and create a site from a design file we provide. Experienced TAs will be there to get you started and help you out along the way. The main purpose of this class is to provide you with supported work time focused around a common, simulated but realistic project to reinforce your skills. You will learn the process of breaking down a mockup, best practices in getting started, and gain experience constructing the main elements of a webpage.

If you want to become a front-end developer, you should attend this session. Come prepared with a laptop, snacks/drinks & determination!

Note: This is a working session, NOT a lecture. It is limited to 15 spots. You must score at least 50% on this quiz to register.

Absolutely was a great experience. And a great challenge. I am definitely interested in doing more project days. It was an exciting start, but I think I needed a little more time. I really wanted to finish the task while I had the full-on momentum that Zoe did such an excellent job of cultivating. ALSO, I wanted to mention this: A few of you sounded interested in this Questlove meets PhillyTechWeek (or the aftermath at least) event. So, good news! I found the details. It's happening. It's free. I'm planning to go. Should be fun.

Everyone (teacher and TAs) was once again really great and helpful. As far as the format, I didn't think it was that different from another GDI html/css course I attended about a year ago. I think hands-on workshops are always really helpful!

I loved this session, it was excellent! Consolidated a lot of the previous knowledge fron the Intro class. Alittle fasted pased but well understood since we covered most of the design. Hope to get the final result soon!

What version of PS is needed?

    April 10, 2013

    • Zoe R.

It shouldn't really matter which version you have, Randy! The file is fairly simple and you'll most need it for reference (it's nice to be able to work with the editable PSD as you're going along).

Ok. I'm asking because I'm presently using ImageReady (CS2) on a Mac and don't have PS on a laptop.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
