Build Your Own Website: Intro to HTML/CSS

This two-part 10-hour Intro to HTML/CSS course runs on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23 from 10:45am until 4pm. Note: The fee has increased because we have added 2 more hours to this class making it 10-hours in all (split over the two sessions).

Want to learn how to build your own website? Already have your own site and want to have more control over it? Interested in learning to program but want to start small? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, this course is for you!

This beginner course will guide you through the very basics of HTML and CSS to assist you along the way as you develop your own website.

About the teacher:

Jenn Lukas is a multi-talented front-end consultant and freelancer developer in Philadelphia and is the founder of Ladies in Tech. She writes for The Nerdary, is a columnist for .net magazine, and has contributed to The Pastry Box Project. She has spoken at a variety of conferences including dConstruct, An Event Apart, and CSS Dev Conference.

Jenn's past experiences range from creating Navy training simulations to leading the front-end team at Happy Cog as Interactive Development Director. She was named one of Mashable’s 15 Developer/Hacker Women to Follow on Twitter, and you can find her on Twitter posting development and cat-related news.


Tech Requirements:

Your laptop. Note: A netbook or tablet is NOT a substitute.

A modern browser with either Chrome and the "Web Developer" extension or Firefox and Firebug installed.

A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 2 (It's free and available for both Mac and PC).

Please note that we cannot issue refunds, since there's an overhead to issuing refunds via and we already offer the workshops at such a low-cost.     I am also really disappointed that I didn't learn about this one in time, and was wondering if you have any recommendations on how I might bring myself up to speed on my own in order to attend the follow-up courses. If that's not possible, would love to know when it may run again.

The next intro class is coming up in April, and is listed on the main page (be sure to click "More Meetups" at the bottom of the current listings).
