Photoshop 101 for Beginners

Do you want to learn how to transform pictures or graphics, retouch photos, or artistically combine graphics with text?

Photoshop is one of the most popular photo editing tools out there for web design. In this beginner workshop, you'll learn about essential options, tools, and simple techniques for working with graphics.

We will cover:

• Document basics including dimensions, resolution and color profiles

• The Photoshop interface, from windows and workspaces to all those different tools and menu options (focusing on those used most frequently in a web workflow)

• Organizing files with layers and layer groups

• Basic techniques for working with photos and graphics

A more advanced version of this workshop called Photoshop Tips & Tricks will run on Monday, March 31st.

Required Software: Photoshop. With a free Creative Cloud membership, you can download a 30-day trial version of Photoshop - https://creative.adobe.com/plans - just make sure you've downloaded (and preferably opened) Photoshop prior to the class so you're certain it's fully installed and working on your computer.

About the Teacher:

Zoe runs a tiny (but growing) front-end web development company focused on working with talented designers to create beautiful, functional websites. She works mostly with WordPress and Shopify - language-wise, that means a lot of HTML, CSS, PHP, Liquid, and jQuery. She is also mom to two little boys, a newbie distance runner, blogger, and avid tweeter.
