GDI Philly is a great "safe" space that allows women to learn a topic not typically geared toward women - programming. It's "safe" in that a programming noob (or one who is knows no coding languages) can feel ok about asking a question and not being labeled stupid/dumb and one who shouldn't be learning this stuff. The other women in the org are generally supportive, even if they themselves are great programmers -- there really is no such thing as a stupid question. There are a few guys involved that help round out the group, which I like as well. The Philly org is great because it feels small and intimate, and you get to know people pretty well. Yet, it's large enough that there can be many class/meetup offerings that will be attended to capacity. Its great for developers and non-develoeprs who are interested in anything tech.
