I have exciting news! SEED (Supporting Entrepreneurship in Education) is coming back October 10th! The event is being hosted by PhillyCORE Leaders and Councilman Bill Green once again.

For SEED 2.0, we are looking for education entrepreneurs that are developing technology for the classroom. This can range from a tool that measures student comprehension in real time, a math app that students can use to help them do their homework, or an interactive website that aids teachers in their professional development. If it's online or mobile, we want you to apply. Entrepreneurs that are still in the 'idea' phase are encouraged to apply, as are more established entrepreneurs. The prize will be $5,000, so if you think this money will help you get to the next level, then please apply. Prior SEED finalists - so long as they were not the final winners - are encouraged to apply again.

Applications open Monday, and SEED 2.0 will take place on Wednesday, October 10th! I will post again on Monday with a link to the application, but in the meantime, can you please spread the word to your networks?

OVERVIEW
SEED (Supporting Entrepreneurship in Education) 2.0 is a crowd-funded and –sourced opportunity for education entrepreneurs (non-profit or for-profit) to compete for cash prizes and, even more importantly, present their ideas before an engaged audience of potential funders, users, collaborators, and community members. The theme of SEED 2.0 is technology in the classroom.

SEED 2.0 will take place on Wednesday, October 10th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Oxford Mills, a new mixed commercial/residential space for teachers and educators located at 100 West Oxford Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123. SEED 2.0 will occur during Young Involved Philadelphia’s “State of Young Philly,” an annual event series that will be held during the first two weeks of October.

The applications will be posted online on Monday, September 10th, applications will close on Monday, September 24th at 5pm, and the finalists (a/k/a the presenters) will be notified on Monday, October 1st. All applicants MUST be available to present at the SEED 2.0 event on the evening of Wednesday, October 10th. Please note we are only able to accept 5-6 finalists for the SEED 2.0 event.

Description of the event
Presenters will be given three minutes each to “pitch” their idea to the entire audience. After each pitch, an esteemed panel of judges has five minutes to ask questions, critique business plans, and make suggestions. After all the pitches and Q&A, the audience then votes for a winner.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Alignment to Education in Philadelphia
While organizations of varying functions are welcome, in order to be considered for SEED 2.0, your venture must exist within the education sector. You must also either be based in Philadelphia or working with/in Philadelphia schools.

If it's online or mobile, we want you to apply. Entrepreneurs that are still in the 'idea' phase are encouraged to apply, as are more established entrepreneurs. The prize will be $5,000, so if you think this money will help you get to the next level, then please apply.
