Salary Negotiations Workshop

One of the most difficult aspects of getting or having a job is making sure you are being paid what you are worth.  All too often women (and men too) do not know how to determine their worth or how to ask for adequate compensation.  More importantly, they do not know the negotiation techniques that will create a result beneficial to all parties - you and your employer.

This workshop will give introduce you to a few tools and tips on evaluating the value of a position, as well as, how to negotiate yourself into your dream job at the right salary. We will cover basic negotiation tactics, the questions to ask, the questions to be prepared for and how to respond to them.  With a combination of discussion, question and answer and role playing, this workshop will help you sharpen your negotiation skills and prepare you to effectively negotiate your salary for your next job offer or salary review.

Loved the tip of mirroring the person you're negotiating with.

Also, I found this link http://blog.ted.com/2012/10/01/... which I think is what was discussed at one point.

Thanks to everyone for the great discussion.

Thanks for empowering women to do their research, know their worth and ask for money/benefits that reflect their level of experience and skills. As women we make less than men in the same fields, therefore accepting an offer that is low will keep our salaries suppressed. I wish I had this info many years ago, starting with my first job out of college.

Agreed, as a recruiter, it's slows the process down when someone hasn't done their research on the role or the market. Just having a range is better than nothing, I am just trying to ensure we are at least playing in the same sandbox!:-)
