JavaScript is a the language of interactivity on the web. Ever used Google maps? Clicked on something to make it appear or hide? Seen a slideshow of images? You have used JavaScript! Learn how to beginning and start creating interactive sites. We will be covering basic Javascript, to the JQuery library, dynamic HTML, JSON and APIs (don't worry this will all make sense by the end of class!)

Because JavaScript interacts with HTML elements, we suggest having a working knowledge of HTML as a pre-requisite for this course. Whether you already know some HTML, or you're taking our January Intro to HTML & CSS class, Javascript is a great next step!

This 2-day JavaScript course runs on the following schedule:

Saturday Febuary 9, 1:00-5:30

Class 1: Introduction to JavaScript; Functions, Arrays, Loops and Objects

Sunday February 10, 1:00-5:30

Class 2: Introduction to jQuery; AJAX, APIs and sharing data

Because these are 4-hour classes, we will be taking a break each day. Relevance does have a kitchen and some sodas and snacks available, or feel free to bring your own.

Please bring a laptop with a text editor and either Chrome or Firefox. If you do not have access to a laptop, or have any questions about selecting a text editor, please let me know.

Refund policy: Your payment of $80 guarantees your seat in the entire course. If something changes after registration and you cannot attend the course, you must notify us at least 3 days before the first class to receive a refund. If you have to miss a class, we will provide code from class and any slides, but we do not offer partial refunds based on individual class absences.

Valerie did a great job teaching to a group with varied backgrounds and experience. I'm on the beginner side, and found it very helpful - not intimidating at all. The TA's were great as well!

I'm glad that was helpful! I think it's nice to actually see how things are used rather than just doing exercises.
