CSS Tools & Techniques

In this evening workshop, we will cover CSS tools and techniques: cross-device CSS for print and mobile, cross-browser CSS hacks, and CSS frameworks like Twitter Bootstrap. Just like with our one-day workshops, we'll have hands-on exercises throughout the night. For any of you who've gone to our HTML/CSS workshops, this would be a perfect follow-up to that.

The course will be taught by Pamela Fox, a frontend developer at Coursera. If you're interested in helping out as a teaching assistant, please let us know.

Please install the following prior to the workshop:

  • A code editor. We recommend Notepad++ for Windows and SublimeText for Mac.
  • A modern browser. We recommend Google Chrome (best) or Mozilla Firefox with the Firebug plugin.

Thank you to Mixamo for hooking us up with a great location!

If you'd like to attend but cannot afford the cost, please request a GDI scholarship.
Please note that we cannot issue refunds, since there's an overhead to issuing refunds via and we already offer the workshops at such a low-cost. We put proceeds into the chapter fund, which we use as our scholarship fund.

How familiar with CSS and HTML do we need to be prior to taking this class? Should I wait to take an HTML/CSS workshop?

    July 19, 2013

    • Pamela

@Stacey: This workshop assumes CSS knowledge, so yes, I recommend taking HTML/CSS first.
