About the organizations:
NCWIT--The National Center for Women & Information Technology is a non-profit community of more than 500 prominent corporations, academic institutions, government agencies, and non-profits working to increase women's participation in technology and computing. NCWIT helps organizations recruit, retain, and advance women from K-12 and higher education through industry and entrepreneurial careers by providing community, evidence, and action.  NCWIT Alliance member institutions tap into a learning community infrastructure that encourages reform across the full education and career spectrum, uniting the computing community with an amplified voice for the increased participation of all groups

CWWK-membership is drawn across the Front Range of Colorado, since its inception in early 2008. Today, Coolest Women is composed of nearly 100 women in Director and above positions representing 90 high-tech companies or companies that serve the high-tech industry.  Although, the current group hails from the Denver/Boulder area, Coolest Women encourages and supports women in other areas of the country with the desire to fulfill the Coolest Women mission to establish their own Coolest Women groups in their respective areas.   One may want to define a Coolest Woman in ways that can be easily measured and quantified such as holds a senior/executive management position and works for a high-tech company, however, it’s not as simple as that. Cool women are smart, driven, engaging and give back to their community.  Defining a Coolest Woman may be easier to qualify than quantify. You’ll know her when you see her, hear her, talk with her, work with her and play with her. You’ll just know.

LI The WV Leadership InvestmentTM is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) organization driving positive change in the workplace and our community. We create successful companies by empowering career-minded women to work together with men through leadership development, networking and mentoring opportunities.  Their focusis  on supporting and advancing women in their careers by developing leaders, connecting people and inspiring action. Critical to our success is engaging with men in the support of our mission

NOTE: Space is limited for the event. If you cannot attend, please be sure to update your RSVP.

Girl Geek Dinners members are self-identified female geeks. We emphatically support transgender attendees and are queer-friendly. Members are welcome to bring a guest (of any gender) to events, provided they RSVP for them ahead of time and the event still has capacity.

I just noticed the agenda for tonight saying " hors d’oeuvre’s", BUT the name of this meetup is GirlGeekDinners. I have to leave work early just to get there by the earlier time of 5:30pm (i.e. versus your previous times of 6pm). So, I don't have time to eat dinner prior to this meeting (and after the meeting at 8:30/9pm is too late).

So, which will be provided, dinner or hors d’oeuvres? Also, will there be vegetarian and gluten-free options?

I look forward to your response so I can determine whether or not I can attend this evening.

    Thank you!
    Kim :)

Hi Rylee. Thank you for your response. So, it sounds like appetizers and not dinner. Honestly, that is disappointing since the group name has "Dinner" in the title, as well as the fact that the event is during dinner time 5:30-8:30pm. It is also disappointing that a Boulder group does not have vegetarian or gluten-free options (especially when other meetup groups like Boulder Agile Meetup and Boulder QA Meetup provide dinner with these options). I do not have time to leave work early, get my own dinner, and get to the meetup. I hope you all have a wonderful time!

Sorry for the confusion! I'm all for inclusive meal options and offering full meals at our regular quarterly GGD dinners! This is an event put on by CWWK. CWWK setup the venue and menu, so I wasn't able to do full meals or accommodate dietary needs this time. Keep an eye out for upcoming event announcements, as I'm working on putting together the next GGD Dinner event, and possibly some smaller happy hour or book club events. Feel free to message me for details! Hope to see you next time!

Do you know the status of the wait list?

    January 22, 2014

    • Rylee

Meetup automatically adds people from the wait list to the confirmed list when people who RSVPed update their RSVP to indicate that they can no longer attend. :) See you tonight!

Lisa & Kaitlin.. you will be missed.. ( but I'm grateful you stayed in touch with Rylee -- in order to make room for moi..! ) I think this line-up looks stellar..! Plus, I want CWWK, NCWIT, Brocade, & Leadership Investment … & their followers --- to know we have a couple of spots left on our Planning Board ( grant writing & biz plan writing ). If we write carefully… we will definitely land the ~ 600 thousand dollars of STEM charter school start-up funds. We want to ensure that K-12 girl geek prospects -- get the proper co-ed opportunities in their early education..! ! Coding & Engineering training within K-12… ! !

Unfortunately I have class this night and can't attend! Is there any way to submit our contact information and interests without physically being there?

We're honing in on the details! Looks like it will be in between Boulder and Denver, probably with start time closer to 6pm. Details will be posted soon, sorry for the delay!

    January 13, 2014

    • Rylee

We're working with another group on this event, so we're still finalizing some details. Currently, looks like we'll be in Broomfield, with the presentation starting closer to 6:15pm, and networking beginning as early as 5:30pm. I hope that helps with planning!

I also get off work at 6:00 but if it's in Denver it would be closer for me.

  • Deb Z

I get off work at 6pm so I'd be late if it's in Boulder or not be able to make it at all if it's in Denver. But I am super interested in this! :)
