Vote for the Waystation App for the International Space Apps Challenge People's Choice Award
Back in April, the team behind the Waystation app won the NASA Space Apps Toronto challenge, and now they're looking for your vote to win the International Space Apps Challenge People's Choice Award! Waystation allows people across the world to greet the astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS). Using an iOs application, their app alerts users when the ISS is visible from their location and encourages them to smile, wave, and share that sentiment with the world. The astronauts will then receive the tweets and messages which are visualized on Waystation's website.Tweet to enter your vote: "I vote #waystationapp for the @spaceapps people's choice award!" Hurry - voting closes Friday, May 17th!
We've got Nora Young!
Mark your calendars for a special evening with Nora Young! On Monday, June 10th, Girl Geeks Toronto will be welcoming the host and the creator of Spark, CBC Radio’s national radio show and podcast about technology and culture. Nora also was the founding host of the CBC Radio show Definitely not the Opera, where she often focused on new media and technology. She is also the author of The Virtual Self, a book on the explosion of data about our behaviours, opinions and actions.
We will be releasing the full details of that event soon!
That's all for now folks!
