Potluck Thanksgiving Dinner

I figure some of you girls, like me, won’t be able to go home for Thanksgiving this year. Let’s spend the holiday together and have a potluck Thanksgiving dinner, play games, have a drink or two, and just have fun.

I have plenty of room at my place to fit 10 – 15 people, just might need to have some people bring extra chairs.

Everyone can choose to bring some type of main dinner dish or dessert. It’s probably easiest if you can bring everything pre-cooked (my kitchen is a bit small) but we can definitely heat-up anything that needs it. Some items I can think of are:

Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Stuffing
Green Beans
Sweet Potatoes
Corn
Biscuits
Carrots
Pie
Soda/juice/wine/etc.

But feel free to bring what you want! Just leave it in the comments so everyone can bring something different.

If anyone knows how/wants to cook the turkey, feel free to come to my place early to do so! I figure I will do it if no one volunteers, but I can’t guarantee it how it will come out if I cook it :)

I'm changing the event time to 3pm so people can come over earlier if they want. My plan is to have the turkey done by 4:30!

I picked up a 14 pound turkey today, hopefully that's enough to feed everybody! It says it should take about three and a half hours to cook. What is the general votes about the time we want to eat? I was thinking early ish like 4 or 430 so people don't have to stay late if they want to get up early for shopping the next day.

I am pretty sure I will be here for the holidays and will know for sure by next weekend. I've cooked full-blown Thanksgiving dinners before so can bring whatever is missing! Thanks for hosting Linda - this is a great idea!

My plans ended up changing so I won't be in town. Sounds like a delicious meal is in the works though!

Let me reccomend that everyone make more than is needed of the food your in charge of so that there are left overs and more than enough to go around

    November 21

    • Linda

You make a good point, people should feel free to bring containers to take leftovers home in. I have ziplock bags but no containers to give out

Hey guys! Hope you all still plan on coming to the Thanksgiving dinner! Since it's now November I'd like to start getting a better idea of what everyone would like to bring. As I mentioned I'll supply the turkey (unless someone else wants to)... does anyone have any idea what size is good to get? I'm think I might even just get a large turkey breast or order a pre-cooked one from the supermarket since I have NO idea how to cook one :) Unless anyone has suggestions or is opposed to that... I also plan on making pumpkin bread and I will have corn. If you have a significant other or friend you want to invite, go right ahead! The more the merrier! Depending on the final count of people we may need a few extra chairs.

Il be making three pumpkin pies. Everyone make more than needed so there's more than enough and leftovers can be divided up. Left overs are a great part of thankgiving

I'm so happy that somebody made an event for this! I'm from Wisconsin, and have no family in town. I'd be happy to bring sweet potatoes (my mom has the best recipe) and cranberry pie. Is anybody allergic to nuts?
